Sustainability in Flexible Packaging: Recycled Movies and Eco Friendly Production

Flexible packaging is actually one of the most resource-efficient packaging types because it provides very high protection than weight. 1. Mono-Material (Single Polymer) Movies

Different polymers in traditional multilayer films (PA, PET, PE, EVOH) are forced to recycle. Mono-material In the approach, all layers are selected from the same polymer family (e.g. full PE-based structures), so the film becomes recyclable in one flow. In many applications, mono-PE structures with correct design can perform close to multi-layer films.

2. 2. High Performance in Thin Thickness (Down-Gauging)

Providing the same protection level with thinner (down-gauging) means direct raw material saving. Thanks to high elongation rate stretch films and advanced coextrusion structures, an application that needs 23 microns from the old can be made with 12–15 microns today. This is an important gain in terms of both cost and environmental footprint.

3. 100% Recycled Stretch Movies

All stretch films produced by GKK Foil are polyethylene-based and 100% recyclable. When pallet winding waste is collected, it can be assessed as raw material in the production of new film or other PE products. With pre-stretch and super strong films, the amount of film used per unit pallet can also be reduced.

4. How to Reduce Food Waste by Decreasing Shelf Life

Sustainability is not only about the packaging itself. A well designed barrier packaging reduces food waste by delaying the deterioration of food. The environmental cost of a food produced is a film that extends shelf life, since it is more than floor in its packaging. It is often clearly favor the environment.
